An exciting opportunity currently exists within the Finance team for a highly motivated and suitably skilled Project Accountant.

This position will report to the Finance Manager and work as a Business Partner with the Operations and Contracts teams.

Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan, establish and direct the Contract/Project financial administrative activities and operational procedures to ensure profits are protected
  • Analyse and interrogate costs, pricing, variable contributions, margin results and the Contract/Project actual performance compared to the budget/forecast plans.
  • Control income, cash flow and expenditure to ensure that the Contract/Project is delivering optimal results
  • Prepare management reports including, budget and forecasts, utilisation reporting, cash flow forecast, and any other ad-hoc analysis as requested
  • Co-ordinate and run the month end process in an efficient and timely manner, complying with time schedules as per set deadlines. Ensure all reports, supporting work papers are complete, accurate and clearly referenced
  • Conduct financial evaluations on existing projects, carrying out business modelling and risk assessments.
  • Provide interpretation and analysis on labour cost and sell rates
  • Ensure Client invoices are promptly issued in line with contractual arrangements receivables are maintained to payment term
  • Assist the Contract/Project Managers by providing detailed financial analytics and project information, identifying strengths/weaknesses, and recommending improvements.

You should possess the following:

  • Bachelor of Commerce or Accounting or equivalent.
  • Membership of CA or CPA (or currently studying for).
  • Experience in delivering insightful reporting analytics and financial/commercial information to manage business risks and opportunities
  • Experience in business partnering with Senior Management
  • Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated capacity and initiative to solve problems with energy and a positive attitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands
  • Experience using Oracle or similar ERP
