We are now looking for an experienced Construction Supervisor with an E&I background to join the team on the Ore Handling Plant (OHP) scope of work for the BHP South Flank Project.  The South Flank deposit is located approximately 130 km by road north-west of the town of Newman, and approximately 8 km to the south of BHP's existing Mining Area C operation. The South Flank project will fully replace production from the 80Mtpa (100 per cent basis) Yandi mine which is reaching the end of its economic life.

Reporting to the E&I Superintendent, the E & I Supervisor with be responsible for ensuring all work carried out in relation to electrical equipment is adequately supervised.

Key responsibilities of the role will include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring that all applicable safety codes, requirements and standards are complied with
  • Conducting daily pre-start meetings with the E&I team, carryout regular safety inspections on the work site, lead by example in regard to safety awareness and HSE reporting
  • Plan daily work for the E&I team and report progress
  • ensuring electrical equipment is installed and tested to meet project specifications and Australian Standard AS/NZS 3000 Electrical installations
  • Stopping the installation or use of any electrical equipment considered to be dangerous, and reporting to the manager any situation that may affect the safe use of electricity

The successful applicant will possess the following:

  • Extensive Supervisory experience working on Construction projects
  • Experience working in major infrastructure projects
  • Proven ability to co-ordination work teams and machinery
  • Commitment to safe working practices in general and project safety plan in particular
  • Relevant trade or qualification
