Clough currently have an opportunity within our core in-house Engineering team for a highly motivated and experienced Principal Electrical Engineer.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role is required to provide electrical engineering expertise to tendering and to projects in a lead capacity. 

Core accountabilities and responsibilities:

  • Maintain design responsibility
  • Review and approve the work from other engineers
  • Participate in Business Development activities to support growth
  • Help in the development of Company Standards
  • Participate in the development of solutions and strategies
  • Provide technical support to electrical group
  • Liaise with other disciplines
  • Liaise with Client engineering personnel
  • Liaise with Vendors
  • Liaise with other project functions

The successful applicant will possess extended knowledge in the following areas:

  • Packages
  • Substation design
  • HV Switchyards and Power Transmission
  • Power Generation
  • Power Distribution Systems
  • End devices and systems, e.g. earthing system
  • Procurement, construction and commissioning activities
  • System Studies - Model, design, analyse and generate reports for electrical power systems using proprietary software, i.e. SKM, ETAP and or DIGSILENT
  • Electrical Equipment for Hazardous Areas (EEHA)
  • Good knowledge of Australian Codes and Standards
  • Good knowledge of relevant International Codes and Standards

Your ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team will ensure your success in this role. Applicants are required to possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, chartered through Engineers Australia (or other professional bodies with mutual EA recognition) have attained competency for Hazardous Area related work (preferred) and have a minimum of 12 years’ experience with Onshore and/or Offshore Oil & Gas projects (preferred) or in the mining / resources market sectors.
