A rewarding opportunity currently exists for a suitably qualified, motivated and enthusiastic Project Engineer. The position is based in Miles, QLD and the successful applicant will work on a 20/8 FIFO roster from any Australian Capital city. The project is gathering works on the APLNG network, including well sites and pipeline installation.

The purpose of this position is to assist with the planning and management of the field team assigned to the project and ensure that standards of safety, technical integrity, quality and production are achieved on all project activities. This position will report directly to the Construction Manager and will be critical to the success of the scope execution.

Your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Plan project activities, tasks and end results including setting the scheduling for completing the works;
  • Progress reporting against plan for construction activities;
  • Project co-ordination (between Client engineering, site, QA/QC, vendors, etc.);
  • Scope control and trending of scope changes as needed;
  • Review Client specifications, drawings and documents and ensure the requirements defined are incorporated in the works and the responsibilities allocated under the project quality system are understood and implemented;
  • Manage and assist with the development of project documentation such as work method statements; inspection test plans, JSA etc;
  • Liaise with and support the Construction Manager in coordinating efforts for completion of construction activities;
  • Liaise with Commercial group in respect to preparation of Subcontractor List, ITT’s, subcontract document review, and final Subcontractor appraisal
  • Provide technical support to the field and manage technical issues requiring Client input through to resolution

The successful applicant will possess the following:

  • Tertiary Mechanical or Civil Engineering qualification;
  • 6+ years’ experience in the oil & gas industry with site-based experience in similar positions;
  • Demonstrated understanding of the interfaces between the various construction disciplines and other departments in the execution of construction activities on a project;
  • Excellent co-ordination, communication and interface management skills;
  • A solid understanding and ability to comply and enforce Health and Safety, legislative and company requirements, policies and procedures;
  • Ability to understand and apply the terms and conditions of the Contract to the Project;
  • The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines;
  • Ability to work within a diverse team;
  • Strong organizational skills;
